Hazel Drive
PRO Tips
This is the toughest hole on the course by stroke index, and it’s a long par four that demands a well-planned strategy from tee to green.
Your drive must carry the pond, so commit to the shot. The sheugh runs all the way down the left side of the fairway, so avoid getting too tight to that side. A strong, accurate drive gives you the best chance of reaching the green in two.
If you’ve hit a good drive and have a realistic chance of reaching the green, take on the second shot with confidence—but only if the numbers are right. The fairway narrows as you get closer to the green, so there’s little margin for error.
If you’re out of position or facing a difficult approach, don’t force the issue. Playing short of trouble and relying on a solid chip and putt can be the smarter route to par.
The green is well protected, with a bunker short-right, the sheugh running along the left, and rough behind. There’s also a slope leading up to the putting surface, so choosing the correct landing area is crucial.
Commit to the tee shot, respect the hazards, and don’t turn a potential par into a big number by taking on a low-percentage shot.
